go to top   New Algorithm for Maximization of Linearly Constrained Convex Quadratic Programming
         by  A. Chikhaoui, A. Belabbaci, A. Mokhtari

          Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 1-8

Abstract - The aim of this study is to calculate the optimum of a convex quadratic function under linear constraints. The aim of this paper is to present a new algorithm for maximizing a convex quadratic programming problem. Constraints are linear. The algorithm operates on quadratic programs in standard form. Each iteration computes new expression of the objective function and the expression of the convex. The stopping criterion is a test of the combination of the cost function allows. The optimal solution is an exact solution and is always a peak when it is unique. This algorithm begins at starting vertex and moves along the edges of the polytope until reaching the vertex of the optimal solution. This algorithm is also valid for linear programming problems. Note a significant result is that the double product does not affect the accumulation of the function. The structure of the algorithm is very similar to simplex algorithm for the linear case. This algorithm is a contribution to the separable program because it allows interpolation of order two. Note that this algorithm is also valid for the linear programming problems.

go to top   A Graphical Model for Assessing the Quality of E-Commerce Systems
by Thair M. Hamtini, Osama M. Rababah

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 9-17

Abstract - One of the most key determinants for success or failure in E-commerce is a high quality website that provides a good user experience. The most consistently successful E-commerce companies are painfully aware of this. Merely a web presence or offering low prices is not enough. However, it has been elusive to judge a site’s quality. To gauge the quality of the user experience of a website, it is necessary to produce a framework and model that makes an evaluation possible. In this paper we introduce a model, named EWQPNet (E-commerce Website Quality Prediction Network). This model provides a consistent and practical approach to assessing the quality of the user experience of the website. The assessment can be carried out before the completion of the website development. Therefore it can provide insights on recommended trends and directions for corrections and improvements. It can also be carried out on operational sites and provide a thorough analysis of areas for improvement. In order to apply EWQPNet’s model a software program has been developed, which also was named EWQPNet. The performance of this program is quick and practical and provides an overall comprehensive assessment with root-cause analysis. This can be used for corrective measures in order to improve the quality of the E-commerce website.

by Yu Dongman, Zhongxiao Hao, Li Xiaojing

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 18-22

Abstract - As an advanced technology, stereo lithography apparatus of rapid prototyping (RP), has been widely accepted as an efficiency way for fabricating new production with shorter cycle and lower cost. Nowadays, a variety of rapid manufacturing technologies have emerged and developed, such as stereo lithography apparatus (SLA), selective laser sintering (SLS), fused deposition modeling (FDM), laminated object manufacturing (LOM). In this study, we carry out the study of SLA rapid prototyping that works with layer-by-layer manner. During the fabrication process, ultraviolet light is selectively exposed to liquid resin to establish model. However, because of photo-polymerization and simultaneously shrinkage, the finished model has the defect of volume shrinkage. For the reason of avoiding severe volume shrinkage and dimensional instability, the finished precision study of LSA is carried out. A non-standard gear is selected as research object and fabricated in SLA machine. The four typical scanning modes of SLA are respectively conducted in this study. The research results indicate that SLA parameters, especially for scanning mode and scanning speed, have closely relationship with forming precision. The finished precision of XYST mode is prior to the XY mode, and the X-Y mode is prior to the X-X mode. The lower scanning speed and surface recoating process might enhance the finished precision.

by Miao-Wang Qian, Guo-Jun Tan, Zhi-Xun Ma, Hui Zhang

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 23-30

Abstract - An improved chaotic particle swarm optimization (ICPSO) algorithm which considers the global suboptimal is proposed in the paper. The ICPSO algorithm is based on traditional chaotic particle swarm optimization (CPSO) algorithm with the updating formulas improved. The ICPSO algorithm is tested with 4 benchmark functions and the results indicate that the ICPSO algorithm has better performance compared with CPSO algorithm. Then aiming at the difficulties of parameter selection for the H∞ robust controller of three-phase PWM rectifier control system, the ICPSO algorithm is applied to select the parameters. Finally, the capability of the optimized H controller is verified with simulation and experiment. The results demonstrate that the PWM rectifier control system with H∞ controller has excellent dynamic and steady-state performance. Therefore, the improvement of algorithm in the paper is feasible and the ICPSO algorithm is valid for the design of H controller.

by  Samaneh Vaez Dalili, Sayed Mehran Sharafi, Bahman Zamani

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 31-39

Abstract – In component-based software development, the correctness of a system depends upon the successful integration of components. While individual components may function correctly, several new faults can arise when these components are integrated together. Model-based testing, as a way of checking the correctness of a component, generates test cases from a formal model of the components, in a systematic manner. In this work, we use Software Architecture as a reference model in Model-based testing. It specifies the behavior of components with respect to their architectural specifications. Team automata possess distinguishable characteristics which make it suitable to specify Software Architecture, formally. It is an extended automata-based model. We present a framework which uses team automata to formalize architectural specifications. We use formal architectural specifications during automatic generation of test case. We use a sample HRMCS case study to illustrate our hands-on experience.

go to top   Based on Particle Swarm Optimization Mobile Robot FastSLAM Method
by  Dongbo Liu, Guorong Liu, Peixin Qu

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 53-59

Abstract - FastSLAM is a framework which solves the problem of simultaneous localization and mapping using a Rao-Blackwellized particle filter. Conventional FastSLAM is known to degenerate over time in terms of accuracy due to the particle depletion in resampling phase. To solve this problem, This paper provides a robust new algorithm based on the particle swarm optimization(PSO) and unscented transformation called PSO unscented FastSLAM (PSOU-FastSLAM).Through the particle swarm optimization, the particle’s prediction is updated, the particle’s proposal distribution is adjusted in FastSLAM, and the landmarks updated through Unscented Kalman filter to improve map estimation accuracy. This approach improves the filter consistency and state estimation accuracy, and requires smaller number of particles than the FastSLAM approach. The simulation experiment results prove its effectiveness and feasibility.

         by A-Ni Song, Ming-Zhe Wang

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 60-66

Abstract - As the top framework of System of Systems (SoS), SoS architecture serves as the basis for capability exploration and mission implementation. The Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) is one of the most popular architecture representation standards to provide a common communication language for SoS architecture design. However, DoDAF is the static description of SoS. In order to evaluate dynamic performance of SoS architecture, computer-based modeling and analysis techniques are needed. Based on coloured Petri net framework, this paper proposes a hierarchical hybrid modeling approach to develop executable model for SoS architecture. With considering of its hybrid feature, SoS architecture is divided into three levels: discrete event level, continuous level and interface level. The first two are modeled in their specific domain respectively, and interactions between them are synthesized by a unified interface. The insights into time synchronization issues of hierarchical model and timing mechanism of SoS architecture are also provided in detail. An application to a simplified missile intercepting system is investigated to demonstrate the practicability of the developed approach.

go to top   Measuring E-Learning Web-based Application Usability
by Thair M. Hamtini, Amjad A. Hudaib

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 67-73

Abstract - Internet-based educational programs have become extremely commonplace and are implemented by both academic institutions and companies locally and world-wide. The growth in the utility of the internet as an educational tool has led to the need to evaluate the usability of e-learning environments [1]. This study represents a comparative examination of two of the most popular usability tools—heuristic and end-user evaluation. For the purposes of this study, three experts were utilized for the heuristic evaluation portion and end-user satisfaction questionnaires were administered to 122 end-users from King Abdullah II School for Information Technology at the University of Jordan. The findings of this study reveal that the website received a more of a favorable rating from the heuristics experts than it did from the end-users. However, the usability rating for both the end-users and the expert evaluators were within the range of acceptability. The implications of this are such that with increased and extended use of an e-learning environment, many problems become evident to its end-users. These problems are not readily assessed by heuristics experts as end-users and experts rate the usability of a website utilizing different standards.

         by  Sabah Al-Fedaghi, Dalal AlZanaidi

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 83-91

Abstract - The field of mobile communication is concerned with such issues as management and integration of wireless communication and network components, system support for mobility, computing system architectures for wireless nodes/base stations/servers, and user interfaces and new applications. Dynamic modeling in the context of mobile communication refers to representation of the behavior of the objects and subsystems and the flow of control among the objects. It includes building graphical scenarios used for specifying interactions between objects in communication and networks systems. This paper examines methods of diagrammatical representation of scenarios. Many types of diagrams are used for such purpose, notably Message Sequence Charts and UML scenarios in mobile systems. These methods of scenario representations and their extensions lack basic features of continuation that characterize the notion of “scenario”. This paper proposes utilizing a flow-based methodology as an alternative representation.

         by  M. Arioua, S. Belkouch, M. M’rabet Hassani

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 92-99

Abstract - High-speed and low-power performances are required in many applications in OFDM-based wireless broadband communication systems. For this purpose, it’s essential to develop a high-performance FFT processor to meet the low cost and real time prerequisites. This paper gives the details of the development of a novel FFT architecture to be used in OFDM system and which satisfies the specification of IEEE 802.11a standard and ETSI Bran. The FFT processor architecture is based on the DIF radix-2 8-point FFT module implemented in pipeline architecture. The proposed architecture reduces the multiplicative complexity by using real constant multiplications. The FFT processor has been implemented in VHDL code, and simulation results show that this processor can reach low arithmetic complexity, hence high speed and low power consumption for OFDM-based wireless broadband communication systems.

by Konstantinos B. Baltzis, Vasileios Goulemes

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 100-105

Abstract - This paper studies the impact of receiver imperfections on the performance of SISO and SIMO OFDM systems in terms of uncoded bit error rate. First, we extend previous studies in the literature and analyze in detail the performance degradation due to the combined effect of residual carrier frequency offset, I/Q imbalance and outdated channel state information. The obtained results are further used to determine the severity of the impact of the three impairments on error probability. The differences between SISO and SIMO systems are also pointed out. Secondly, we explore the relation between bit error rate, FFT length and number of data subcarriers and evaluate the degree to which a proper setting of the last two parameters improves system performance.

by  Mohamed Lamine Hamidatou, Mhania Guerti, Samy Ait-Aoudia

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 106-112

Abstract - The purpose of this research work targets the automatic extraction in real-time, of labial contours of a video sequence, without constraints of lighting or make-up for the development of one assistance system to the labial reading. Our study contains two essential steps: semi-automatic initialization for the extraction of the lips external contour of the first image of a sequence, and the follow-up of the lips movements. For that, we based ourselves on algorithms of the characteristic points determination of the lips, as well as a method of optimal slope allowing to trace the cubic ones forming the lips initial contours. For the follow-up of the characteristic points, we adapted a method of mapping. The minimization of the errors of follow-up is made by an algorithm of retiming in order to follow suitably the lips contours. Finally to make sure of the performance of our algorithms; we tested them on a variety of speakers. The results obtained showed the rigor of our algorithms.

by Ziti Fariha Mohd Apandi, Norwati Mustapha, Lilly Suriani Affendey

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 113-121

Abstract - As more information sources become available in digital video, there is a need of technique to identify the interesting rare event and mining information from video. In this work, we proposed a new supervised class imbalance method for addressing the challenges posed in rare or class imbalance event detection, where the irrelevant information dominate the detection model and give the poor performance to capture small portion of targeted event from huge amount of video data. The proposed method tackles this issue by combining the strength of principle component analysis and weight linear analysis to alleviate imbalanced dataset and give a great influence to the classifier. Specifically, a set of algorithms are developed for filtering the counterpart of data instances and generating the refined potential instances. Then, the filtered data are fed into C4.5 classifier to construct the decision model. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, several experiments using 27 soccer videos dataset with various production styles and different audiovisual was implemented. The results are promising and demonstrates the proposed method is able to improve classification performance in imbalanced video data when collaborates with detection model.

go to top   Subspace-Based Learning for Face Retrieval
by M. Alarmel Mangai, N. Ammasai Gounden

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 122-131

Abstract - In this paper, a subspace-based clustering method is presented for Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) of faces. The proposed clustering algorithm, which is based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA), generates clusters using hierarchically related low-dimensional, nested eigenspaces. Mahalanobis distance measure has been used for grouping the images into clusters. Retrieval of faces is carried out in two steps – classification and image matching. The clusters generated are used to form the training set of the classifier. A query is classified belonging to the trained clusters, which are at minimum distance to the query. Later the distance between each image from the chosen clusters and the query is evaluated. The relevant images, which are closest to the query, are retrieved. The Subspace Linear Discriminant Analysis (SLDA) algorithm is employed for the classification purpose. The Euclidean distance measure is used for image matching. Several experiments have been conducted using the benchmark data sets such as UMIST and Weizmann Institute Face database having face images with large variations in pose / pose and expressions and the results are presented. Comparison on the performance is made with that of normalized Mahalanobis distance measure-based K-means clustering algorithm for retrieval to demonstrate the robustness of the proposed scheme.

         by Ehsan Jokar, Hossein Pourghassem

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 132-142

Abstract - Extracting the kidney region in an automatic system at a short time is an important factor in the evaluation and recognition of the kidney diseases in the ultrasound imaging. In this paper, a model-based kidney region extraction algorithm is proposed using the shape features and the level set method. In this algorithm, the kidney region extraction is optimized by an energy function based on the image intensity variance. Since there is always an intrinsic noise in ultrasound images, a quadratic function cannot be used as the energy function in the energy function optimization step. So, the optimization methods based on gradient which were proposed in the previous methods can be upgraded. In our proposed optimization method, basic gradient descent and the second partial derivatives of the energy function are utilized to impressively improve the performance of the kidney texture extraction. We use a Curvelet transform-based preprocessing step for improving contrast and noise removal. In this method, a non-linear function optimizes the coefficients of Curvelet transform adaptively. The obtained segmentation results show that our automatic extraction method provide results close to opinion of the specialist.

           by Ava Tahmasebi, Hossein Pourghassem

           Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 143-148

Abstract - Dynamic signature identification has recently received significant attention, due to its extensive applications ranged from authentication to security. This paper investigates a new algorithm for online handwritten signature identification using fusion of dynamic properties. Hidden Marcov Model (HMM) is applied to three sets of categorized dynamic properties to extract precise compressed features. After analyzing the extracted features, KNN classifier is used for the identification task and a decision level fusion scheme is also proposed to integrate the multi-feature decision level fusion in order to enhance system performance. The signature identification experiments demonstrated the superiority of multi-feature decision fusion to single-feature identification, which concludes in better identification accuracy. The validity of the proposed system is evaluated on SVC2004 signature Database. The proposed method is also compared with several approaches that have been presented in the literature.

         by  Alireza Samadi, Hossein Pourghassem

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 149-157

Abstract - Age estimation by using the human face digital images can be considered as efficient method in intelligent systems used for special age class. But, its complications yet make it difficult to estimate the accurate age. In this paper, we propose a novel and efficient algorithm which can estimate human age by using texture features of the human face images. In this algorithm, we apply two steps to remove the system sensibility to intense changes of illumination and contrast. In order to extract the features related to the texture, we apply multi-scale curvelet transform on the human face images. Then by considering the adaptive threshold and calculating the entropy in each of sub-bands in curvelet space, the effective features related to the texture of images are selected. Then, using Principle Component Analysis (PCA), the dimensions of features are reduced. Finally, a neural network classifier classifies the extracted features based on various ranges of age. The proposed algorithm is evaluated on 102 images of FG-NET aging database. The obtained results show that mean absolute error of the age estimation (MAE) is 3.87 year.

         by  M. Madkour, A. Maach, D. Elghanami

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 166-176

Abstract – Pervasive information systems is an emerging concept of information systems where information technology is gradually embedded in the physical environment, capable of discovering users needs and recommending them most appropriates services in adaptable manner. To do so, Pervasive information systems differ from desktop information systems in that they provide new means of interaction with context and can generate new context-aware services. One of the main requirements on the pervasive systems is automatic adaptation without much need for user’s interaction. In this vision, the context-awareness is a key requirement in a pervasive system as it enables an application to adapt to his current situation. Although the context sensitive services present an exciting realm where intelligent devices interact within the background of the environments to create a more intuitive experience for their human users, and consequently to ensure a certain level of QoS. However, due to the vast heterogeneity of services and devices as well as the highly dynamic character of pervasive environments decisions regarding the best possible combination of services which fulfils the user’s need is a challenging concern. This project presents context-aware middleware that handles a context aware processing and manages the service adaptation and provisioning, it offers a sophisticated mechanism in firstly matching user with appropriates services and then adapting automatically theses services without much need for user’s interaction.

by  Jiping Li, Shixun Wu, Shouyin Liu

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 177-184

Abstract – In this paper, a downlink scheduling and resource allocation scheme with maximum and minimum rate constrains for multiuser single-cell orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system under partial (imperfect) CSI is investigated. Our scheme aims to maximize the system throughput while keeping long term fairness in terms of throughput among users and satisfying users’ quality of service (QoS) requirements in terms of minimum rate. Under partial CSI, there is a nonzero outage probability that the assigned rate at the particular subcarrier/user pair will not be supported by the true channel realization, which may lead to significant waste of the system’s radio resources, so the assigned rate should be less than the maximum rate, which is related to the system’s target outage probability. The minimum rates, which are determined by the users’ average packet arrival rates and queue capacity according to M/D/1/B queue model, are used to satisfy users’ QoS requirement. The proposed scheme consists of two phases. The first phase performs joint scheduling and subcarrier allocation and the second phase carries out power adjustment among subcarriers allocated to the maximum-rate-satisfied users to save power to users whose maximum rates are not satisfied. Simulation results show that our scheme achieves higher throughput compared with multicarrier proportional fair (MPF) scheme, realizes the highest mean system fairness and keeps the average outage probability of users at low level in the presence of partial CSI.

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 185-190

Abstract – Nowadays, many people are blind or can’t see well and suffer from problems of communicating to the outside world. Blind people should be familiar to Braille alphabets to communicate with others in written form. Many electronic devices have been designed and invented to help these people interact with computer and the internet in the communication world. Braille alphabet display is one of these devices and should have some specifications such as portability, low price and desired quality that can be used for all blind people. But according to some reasons, none of them could be useful and practical for all blind people. In this paper, we presented a new method that is used for designing and inventing a Braille alphabet display that is a full electronic device. It can also be connected to computers and translate digital Persian texts to Braille and show the characters on the display. This device is made of thermal cells unlike the previous ones. An AVR microcontroller that is the main part of this device is used to do all tasks like refreshing the display, reading input keys and connection to the computer. So these people can have access to many digital texts using this device that has low price and everybody can afford and use it easily.          by  A. Fathi, S. A. Monadjemi, F. Mahmoudi

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 191-196

Abstract – One of the most important problems in random tiles defect detection is the selection of a suitable classification method. In this article an appropriate method was proposed for defect detection by comparison of three existing methods for classification on the extracted features space. The suggested method is based on the combination of wavelet transform and co-occurrence matrix. Supervised classification methods are more efficient than unsupervised and distance-based methods due to training with similar samples from the test images of random tile texture. The results indicate, both visually and computationally, that the supervised classification by using combination of wavelet transform and co-occurrence matrix is more capable for random tiles defect detection.

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 197-200

Abstract - An anonymous user authentication scheme allows the user and the remote server to authenticate each other, and should preserve user anonymity. In 2011, Yoon et al. proposed a user friendly secure anonymous authentication scheme for wireless communications. They claimed that their scheme was more secure and efficient than the previous schemes. However, we demonstrate that their scheme is vulnerable to lost smart card attack and impersonation attack. Moreover, it does not provide user anonymity and perfect forward secrecy properties. Thus it is not feasible for real-life implementation.

by  Jiali Tang, Jianmin Zuo, Xiangjun Chen, Chenrong Huang

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 201-205

Abstract – Example-based superresolution algorithms reconstruct the high frequency information of high-resolution images by learning prior knowledge. However, these methods need to run though all the sample set, which results in high calculation load and image degradation because of mis-matching. In this paper, we propose a new image superresolution algorithm based on support vector regression (SVR) pre-classified learning. Before the prediction, we select the subset of sample database which has similar texture feature with the object image. The pre-classification process ensures the content relevance between the sample patch and the input low-resolution image. In addition, it reduces the mis-matching greatly and improves the program running speed in the meanwhile. The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm gets better reconstruction performance than the traditional example-based algorithms.

by  Yangping Wang, Jianwu Dang, Xiaogang Du

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 211-216

Abstract – Heavy ion dose distribution is sensitive to anatomic changes and tissue motion due to high dose concentrated on Bragg peak with high relative biological effectiveness (RBE). During treating target sites especially in lung cancer cases, breathing motion may result unintended variations in the dose distribution. Based on image registration, segmentation and pseudo-color algorithm, the work conducts a study on the calculation and visualization of the heavy dose distribution for 3D superimposed conformal irradiation and dose evaluation. Then the paper investigates the respiratory motion effects on the dosimetric redistribution on target and critical tissues during heavy ion radiotherapy. In our experiments, ten patients have been undergone routine free breathing CT scan, two additional CT scans at the end of inspiration and the end of expiration. The results have showed that clinical target volume (CTV) coverage is compromised markedly due to respiration. The paper suggests a real-time respiratory gating system and adjustable dramatic multi-leaf collimator should be adopted in lung cancer cases for heavy ion radiotherapy with small CTV-to-PTV margin.

Abstract – Since the birth of field bus, it has become development and research focus of automation technology, it is known as Local area network (LAN) of the automation. However, field bus standards are not uniform at present, which brings many difficulties to different industrial control equipments from different manufacturers to connect their devices to others. Currently, due to various kinds of field bus, it is very important to develop a bus conversion device. Profibus-DP and Controller Area Network (CAN) bus are two completely different buses which have a wide range of application areas, but the bus protocols (link layer and application layer) are totally different. In order to make two bus devices achieve data exchange, it is necessary to design conversion methods for data link layer and application layer protocols respectively. The conversion interface, designed in this paper, can satisfy this function greatly.

         by  Guangchun Fu, Yansheng Yang

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 228-233

Abstract – Amplitude-shift keying (ASK) modulation method is simple, but the performance is poor and the bit error rate is high. PSK modulation method is also relatively simple, but its good performance, the bit error rate is low. Because of the phase error existence, Differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) is widely used instead of phase-shift keying (PSK) in practice. This paper presents a new complex modulation method which absorb advantages of ASK and PSK which characteristics of the simple ASK and PSK excellent performance. It can effectively solve the problem of PSK phase error, by use of the ASK and PSK advantages. It is each separated by a fixed several coding, and then a corresponding first code from the PSK modulation changes the ASK modulation. The theoretical analysis show that, this method can solve the phase error; the error rate is relatively between of the ideal PSK and ASK.

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 241-245

Abstract – Two problems affect the clustering capacity of the fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm: one is the selection of initial cluster centers, which has great influence on the performance. The other one is easy to fall into local optimum. The improved FCM (Fuzzy C-Means) based on IPSO (Improved Particle Swarm Optimization) is proposed to overcome these two problems. The improved PSO can be used to solve the initial cluster centers, and it also can solve the local optimum problem combined with Suganthan PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) model of neighborhood operations. The efficiency of particle swarm optimization algorithm has better performance, and the new update strategies improved the performance of PSO. The algorithm has a good global convergence, which ensures the diversity of population and overcomes the fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm deficiencies.

Abstract – In this paper, the simplified adaptive fuzzy decentralized stabilization problem is investigated for a class of output-feedback large-scale nonlinear systems with unknown time-varying time-delays and interconnections. Through synthesis and induction, only one fuzzy logic system is needed in each subsystem to approximate the unknown functions with same argument, so that the controller structure is simpler than the existing results. Both the observer and the controller are independent of the unknown time delay. It is proved that the proposed design approach is able to guarantee semi-global uniform ultimate boundedness (SGUUB) of all signals in the closed-loop system, with arbitrary small error by appropriately choosing design parameters.

The vast majority record the pyromantic divinations of the royal house of the late Shang dynasty at the capital of Yin. OBI is the earliest and complete system ancient Chinese characters. It has very important research merit. With the development of computer and information technology, digitization processing of OBI becomes an important aspect in current digitization processing of ancient Chinese font. For information researchers, the study object is OBI sentences added punctuation marks by experts, but it is also a heavy and difficult work processing these sentences. In order to reduce the burden of OBI experts and the research difficulties in the OBI information processing, reusing and managing the existing OBI knowledge, an example-based machine translation (EBMT) method is proposed. The advantages of EBMT for OBI are analyzed, and an example library building method based on OBI-Chinese parallel corpus is introduced. Firstly, the basic construction steps of bilingual parallel corpus are analyzed. Secondly, the processes and key technologies of EBMT for OBI are studied. Finally, a machine translation system is developed to verify the proposed method.          Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 314-321

Abstract – The fatigue during user’s evaluation is the key factor that influences the efficiency and quality of interactive genetic algorithms (IGA). Considering the multi-subjects and vast user information required by the product innovation projects which will result in more user workload, a Boolean evaluation method based on user selections is proposed in this paper. The algorithm gains efficiency and low user fatigue with the unnecessary precision as trading off, taking into consideration of the inherent noise in user’s evaluation criterion. An incomplete sequential selecting evaluation method is developed on the basis of Boolean evaluation method to improve the evaluating precision, and an estimating model is established through extra random generations and the genes’ sensitive factors. A fusing algorithm is applied to fuse user’s selection and model estimation for better efficiency and solution quality. The method is tested with comparison to existing methods in an example of product shape optimization, and its practicability is proved. The test also proved its economical efficiency compared with traditional grading method which has superfluous precision.

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 326-330

Abstract – Abrasive water jet (AWJ) cutting has now been widely accepted by the machine shop over the world and its advantages are well known. AWJ cutting process is very complex and involves more variables than a conventional machining process. On the other hand, there are typically nonlinear relationships among the variables; therefore it is more difficult to build the model of AWJ cutting theoretically. In this paper, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was adopted to model AWJ cutting process based on experimental data. It was showed that ANN model for AWJ cutting can be better prediction of AWJ cutting performance than that of theoretical or semi-empirical model. As the result of the study, precise machining using AWJ can be performed.

         by  Yuanliang Zhang, Guangchun Fu

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 337-343

Abstract – The time delay is always existent in the practical systems. Analysis of the delay phenomenon in a continuous time domain is sophisticated. It is appropriate to obtain its corresponding discrete time model for implementation via digital computer. This paper proposed a new scheme for the discretization of nonlinear systems with time delayed multi-input using Taylor series expansion and the first order hold (FOH) assumption. In the case of slow sampling rates, the order of the Taylor series must be chosen as a very big one in order to obtain the accurate discretization results. This will increase the computational burden largely. In this paper a hybrid discretization scheme are proposed under conditions of very low sampling rates. The proposed hybrid discretization scheme combines the scaling and squaring technique (SST) with the Taylor method. By applying SST, the proposed method can provide good enough discretization results in the case of slow sampling rates without increasing the computational burden largely. The performance of the proposed discretization procedure is evaluated using a nonlinear system. For this nonlinear system, various sampling rates and time delay values are considered.

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 344-352

Abstract – Flood Risk analysis is one of the key issues for the management of the basin water resources. It requires knowledge about the spatiotemporal variability of average precipitation over an area, especially the extremely heavy precipitation. In this paper, we propose a multi-granular flood risk analysis method based on quotient space. Daily grid precipitation dataset, which has a 0.25 longitudinal and latitudinal resolution, from the National Climatic Centre (NCCC) of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) is analyzed to explore the possible flood condition in the Dongjiang River basin, south China. Two quotient spaces with different views, including wet/dry granularity and precipitation intensity granularity, are constructed from the precipitation time series. Then granularity synthesis theory of quotient space and the basic properties among different quotient spaces such as the “false-preserving” and the “true-preserving” properties, are applied to maximize the analyst's insight into the precipitation dataset, which can provide decision support for the analysis of potential flood risk.

Its transmissivity and band gap are developed based on Bloch wave number method and transfer matrix method in this paper. The Bloch wave number of this porous medium is complex and depends on frequency of incidence plane wave. If the image part of this wave number is not zero, the transmissivity of plane wave in this medium will be zero, which is named band gap emerging. Computer simulation results show that this ordered porous medium exists obvious band gap in a certain frequency range if its lattice number is equal to or larger than four. So, it can be used to control vibration and noise. The upper and lower limiting frequencies of the first band gap increases with the decreasing of the lattice size. The upper limiting frequency increases with the thickness ratio of solid to air, but the lower one does not obviously vary with the thickness ratio.

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 369-373

Abstract – CBR (case based reasoning) is a hot research field in machine learning, according to the bottleneck of knowledge acquisition, the application of knowledge discovery in case-based reasoning system is studied with the SVM( Support Vector Machine) methods. The SVM used for rules acquisition in case base reduces the condition attributes and extracts the features, and then the complexity and speed of rules acquisition will be improved with the fewer features. For the confirmation and decision of example category, a simple decision function can be obtained by using SVM in the classification in CBR system. The decision function can perform the category prediction of samples with the similar role of decision-making rules, and can be much more easily realized than the traditional methods. The results show SVM for the knowledge discovery in CBR can achieve the simplicity and high-speed, especially in large scale CBR.

Abstract – The feature extraction of face orientations is the key of the face’s orientation recognition. In this paper, four methods including entropy sequence, logarithmic series, time series, and standard deviation series based on the Pulse Coupled Neural Network (PCNN) have been introduced to extract the features of face orientations. Combined with Euclidean distance method this paper identified different face orientation. Experiments show that these four methods which based on the feature sequence of PCNN are effective and feasible, in which the method which based on the logarithmic series is the best, which can be used to extract the features of face orientation. The classified results of logarithmic series which are impacted by salt and pepper have been analyzed. The method of Euclidean distance has been used to classify and recognize the face orientations. Based on the sequence of entropy, the sequence of numbers, time series, and the sequence of standard deviation of PCNN, this paper analyzed the 5 orientation of the face, and anti-jamming capability of the method of feature extraction of PCNN with increased noise. The results prove that the method based on logarithmic series whose accurate identification rate was 96% has certain anti-noise ability.

Abstract – In order to solve the problem of sensor nodes with limited energy supply in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), this paper proposes a method to collect the data of sensor nodes based on sequential compressed sensing (SCS) and sparse sensing. In the proposed method, the measurement matrix is generated according to sparse random projection which may save communication costs, and the data of sensor nodes are collected in the way of SCS which can reduce communication data. The proposed method can save the energy consumption of sensor nodes and achieve more reliable reconstruction results by adding the computations at the sink node. Experimental results also show that the proposed method can reduce the energy consumption of sensor nodes and achieve more reliable reconstruction results without almost reducing reconstruction quality of the signal, compared with other CS methods.

         by Qing Wei, Zhiguo Bao

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 414-419

Abstract – It is known that the standard Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm has many advantages in some problems that need high speed of convergence. However, there are also some cases shown that the PSO algorithm cannot reach the top optimal situation sometimes; therefore, it prevented us to obtain accuracy solution in the way of fine tuning. Via the analysis on the influence of average absolute value of velocity of all particles on search ability of the PSO, a kind of improved particle swarm optimization is proposed, which has the characteristic of nonlinear dynamic adaptive velocity variation. To represent the briskness of all the particles, the average absolute value of velocity is applied as an index in this proposed improved algorithm. To enhance the search ability in the multidimensional space, the average absolute value of velocity changes along with a given nonlinear variation of ideal velocity by feedback control for tuning inertia weight. Experimental results represents that the convergence precision and the ability of PSO to escape the local optima is highly improved in the proposed algorithm.

Abstract – Ladle is an important equipment of the metallurgical industry. Distribution of thermo mechanical stress in linings has an essential influence on its life, and the size of its life-span affects the economic benefits of the iron and steel enterprise directly. In the process of design and calibration of the large-size ladle, it is of great significance to determine the stress distribution of each part of the ladle for safely and reliably running the device. Aiming at the performances of ladle composite body in service, two-dimensional model of ladle based on law of finite element method is built, and the influence of thermal conductivity, thermal expansion coefficient, elasticity coefficient and thickness of work lining on ladle stress field are discussed. The calculation results indicate that stress increases with the increase of thermal conductivity, thermal expansion coefficient and elasticity coefficient and decrease of thickness. The finite element analysis results accord with practical operation of ladle. Abstract – The mechanisms of Transmission Control Protocol congestion control are understood as primal-dual algorithms which try to maximize the utility of Internet. This means optimization theory and control theory should be both considered for transmission control protocol design. In this paper, we use control theory to study the local stability of general primal-dual algorithms which in the presence of general network topology and arbitrary delay. The analysis result is based on the frequency response functions of the system and the model of general primal-dual algorithms. Furthermore, we extend the traditional proportional fairness of Transmission Control Protocol by adopting general utility function. At last we present two kinds of congestion control algorithms according to different stable conditions. Simulation results show that the new algorithm is stability and achieve scalable fairness.

         Vol. 7. n. 1, pp. 438-442

Abstract – In the electronic experimental courses of most universities, the functional board welded by the students themselves are often unable to reuse, which results a lot of waste of experimental resources. To solve this problem, we design and develop the simulation control platform system based on object-oriented in this paper. The designed system uses the concept of object-oriented, the theory of the component model drawn with the GDI + graphics technology and the serial port communication method. The system can abstract and package the electronic components into the objects, and finally complete the link of software and hardware to achieve accurate interaction of Software and the experimental board. When students make the electronic category (such as SCM) experiments, they just need drag out the packaged modules in the software and assemble them in visual way. If the circuit is correct, the computer will automatically generate the appropriate test program. Students just need adjust the test board jumpers, and then the hardware circuit can work automatically. Thus, the system has a certain universal control. It can avoid wasting a lot of experimental equipment, save cost and improve efficiency.

Abstract – Apperceiving to the environment is the basic attribute of Agent. Different environment requires Agent to adopt different perception methods. Message-publishing/subscribing system can offer reliable asynchronous communication between agents of loose coupling. In this paper, proceeding from practical angle, we, on the basis of original Agent conceptual model regard (Java Message Service) JMS publishing/subscribing system as idiographic environment that Agent apperceives, and construct a model of the perception body which is suitable for asynchronism cooperation of Agents. Because of the Agent character of event driven and the advantage of event communication mode, the model framework adopts event communication mode, takes event process as the core and includes event obtain module, event filter module and event process module. It also advances a reticulate event composition mechanism to solve the problem of the synthesis of compound events. Abstract – In Internet of Things (IOT) systems, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags are limited by size, costs and hardware complex. Relaying cooperative communication allows for energy saving through diversity gains, which can diminish the per-node energy consumption and increase network lifetime. However, channel state information (CSI) is always unknown and must depend on the channel estimation techniques to get. We propose a kind of framework batch blind channel estimation methods for the relay cooperative communication of IoT systems. We propose a cost function, including a modified Reduced Constellation Algorithm( RCA ) error function term and adopt iterative reweighed least square(IRLS) algorithm to solve the optimization problem. The simulation results show that the proposed blind channel estimation method can estimate the CSI correctly without any training sequence and achieves a fast blind estimation of the channel only rely on small batch vector size.

Abstract – Cooperating communication firstly stemmed from the theory of relay channel, there are mainly two cooperation communication networks, which are AF (Amplify-and-Forward) and DF (Decoded and Forward). Power allocation is the current research focus of cooperation relay network. For cooperation-relay AF network model, there are many algorithms are proposed, for example, the average power distribution, but this algorithm is not perfect for performance. In this paper, an OFDM based optimal power allocation algorithm is proposed with the combination of AMC (Adaptive Modulation and Coding) and bit-filling. In the algorithm, AMC uses fixed threshold value based on expectations correction; Power allocation algorithm adopts bit-filling according to different modulation mode, adjusting power with the quality of the channel. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm not only the BER performance is stable, but also the complexity of the algorithm is low.

Abstract – With the rapid development of computer technology, it becomes possible to correctly predict the soil temperature field of ground heat exchanger (GHE) after long-running, so as to effectively guide the design and optimize operation strategy of GHE. In this paper, the GHE of ground source heat pump (GSHP) engineering in the Loess Plateau region are selected as the research object. Three-dimensional seepage of water in the isotropic saturated soil porous media, thermal disturbance between the heat transfer wells and different physical properties of the layered soil along the depth direction are considered in the modeling process. The computer numerical model is established through coupling fluid turbulence model in the U-tube and soil porous media seepage model. The soil temperature field of the actual GHE is continuous monitored in a four-month heating period, then the monitoring datum are used to calibrate the new model. Further using the model to predict and analyze the thermal influencing radius, the soil temperature field distribution and the impact of seepage. The simulation results are basic consistent with the test data. This shows that the model and discrete algorithm is effective and feasible, so the model can be used to predict the design and operation of the GHE.

Abstract – The decision method of product design scheme has emerged as an active research area. However, few quality characteristics (QCs) have been considered to select the best product design scheme. To overcome the above limitations, it becomes important to make a decision using multiple QCs instead of one quality characteristic. The aim of this paper is to propose a comprehensive decision method based on the improved technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) and grey relation analysis (GRA). First, the multiple-attribute decision-making system was established by multiple QCs. Second, the improved TOPSIS method was used to determine the index weight of correlative QCs. Third, an application of GRA in decision of optimal design scheme was discussed based on these weights. The validity of proposed method was demonstrated with an example taken from design scheme decision of CNC machine center.
