Abstract

In this work, a numerical study has been considered in order to model the singularity near the crack-tip by the improved quarter point finite element IQPE. The aim of this paper is to estimate numerically the values of correction factors using different finite elements (classical finite element CE, standard quarter point finite element QPE and improved quarter point finite element IQPE) for two specimens (Central Notched and double Edge Notched). The results obtained are compared to reference solutions and show excellent agreement.
