Abstract

The influence of polycarbonate (PC) and polystyrene (PS) blend ratio of different wt.% percentages on the optical properties: optical energy gap (Eg) and optical constant refractive index (n) using the transmittance and reflectance spectra have been investigated. The results for PS-PC blend upon being radiated revealed an absorption peak appearance at 285,310 nm for PC and PS, respectively. The value of the Eg increased with increasing radiation doses. The dispersion spectrum for all firstly radiated samples has shown nonsystematic change in refractive index, and becomes systematic with increasing the time of radiation. This n behavior may be attributed to the increase in transmittance.
