Abstract


Water absorption was studied for waste wood reinforced with phenol-formaldehyde (PF) as adhesive to form wood /PF composites .The specimen was immersed in water from (1-5) hours to study the time required for swallowing due to porosity in the specimen .To avoid this failure , this specimen was coated with epoxy resin and then immersed again in water . The result shows that the specimen (wood/PF/EP) did not influenced by water up –take. The coating improved the performance of product. Thermal conductivity for these specimens were studied ,for the specimen coated with epoxy the thermal conductivity was about 0.3 W/m.k. while it’s about 0.84 W/m.k.  for wood/PF composites.
