Abstract

The construction sector is considered one of the largest consumers of resources on the planet and one of the main productive sectors of the economy. Both current market competition increase and profit margins reduction have created a demand for the implementation of new technologies and methods in order to enhance companies’ competitiveness. In this scenario, the systematization of construction processes in order to promote studies of materials flow and the use of computational tools are justified in order to reduce waste and to provide improvements. The materials flow identification allows its equation, from simulations, in order to obtain the maximum efficiency in their processes. This study objective has been to measure the losses caused by the aluminum frame installation team idleness due to delays in materials delivery. This goal has been achieved with an aluminum frame supply chain model built with delays and monetary losses account simulation and informed. In conclusion, it has been possible to observe the materials flow delays impact caused by the delays, that corroborating the importance of its correct management and planning combined with an efficient and involved supplier chain in the processes.
