Reliability and Optimization Strategy in an Interconnected Network at a Wind Farm
(*) Corresponding author
Wind power plants are increasingly integrated into the power grid to reduce the environmental impact of conventional thermal power plants. Due to wind speed uncertainty, the problem of the intermittence and fluctuation of wind energy production causes a risk for interconnected electrical networks. Several papers try to solve this problem using various prediction methods. This paper presents the strategy of integrating a wind farm into an electrical network, based on the calculation of the electrical network parameters using the probabilistic distribution of wind. In order to validate the results obtained, the calculation of optimal power flow (OPF) is essential since it allows calculating the electrical energy flow between buses at a low cost and without the risk of grid disturbance. The solution to the OPF problem is implemented on MATLAB using the IEEE 24-bus standard electrical network.
