Abstract

This paper deals with the theoretical and the experimental study of the self-excited induction generator (SEIG). First a transient state model taking into account the saturation effect is established. It is based on the Park’s model referred to the rotor rotating frame.  Then, a numerical procedure using a second order slip equation is developed. It permits to predict the steady state characteristics of the SEIG. An experimental test rig is set up in order to compare the experimental results and those obtained using the simulation programs.
