Abstract

Power Quality is one of the important concerns in present modern world. Power Quality is any abnormal behavior on a power system arising in the form of Voltage and/or current, which adversely affects the normal operation of electrical or electronic equipment. The power quality problems and its major impact on sensitive loads are well known. To solve these problems, custom power devices are used. Some of the custom power devices are Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR), Distribution Static Synchronous Compensator (D-STATCOM), and Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC). In this paper a three phase four wire system is proposed to regulate the load terminal voltage during voltage sag, swell, unbalance harmonics present at the point of common coupling (PCC) is compensated. Photo Voltaic (PV) is used as DC source for the Voltage Source Inverter (VSI). Unit Vector Template Generation (UVTG) is used for the generation of reference voltages.
Hysteresis controller is used to generate pulse signal for the VSI of DVR and D-STATCOM. These voltages, when injected in a distribution line by a series and shunt transformer can regulate the voltage at the load terminals against any power quality problem present in the source side or at pcc point. The proposed control scheme is simple to design. Simulation results are carried out by MATLAB /Simulink to verify the performance of the proposed method.
