Islanding Detection Method without Non-Detection Zone Based on Usage of Single Parameter (ISDET) Calculated from Voltages

In this paper new single parameter (ISDET) based islanding detection method for distributed generation units is presented. In calculation of this single parameter average of voltage total harmonic distortion of all phase-to-phase voltages as well as voltage zero, negative and positive sequence component magnitudes will be utilized.
Proposed new method is able to detect islanding very fast and selectively also near perfect power balance situations. In addition, the proposed algorithm is applicable to both directly and converter connected distributed generation units and the performance of the algorithm is not significantly affected by the level of voltage unbalance before islanding.
