Abstract

Employment of artificial intelligence is flourishing fast in the area of power electronics and drives. This paper put forth a new reference signal generation method to compensate power quality problems of non-linear loads through unified power quality conditioner (UPQC).UPQC  comprises of two inverters that have a common DC link which can annihilate current harmonics emanating from the non-linear side and abate the voltage sag/swell emanating from the supply side. The controllers developed for UPQC are based on fuzzy controller scheme. The control strategy for DC link makes use of fuzzy logic. The   proposed method’s performance is validated with the help of MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation.  The THD results are found to meet the IEEE -519 standards and exhibits that the controller performs well in mitigation of various PQ related problems.
