Abstract

In this paper, the effect of the backlight angle on the aerodynamic and acoustic parameters of the Ahmed model is investigated using numerical methods. The numerical results are validated by the experimental results available in the literature. The comparison reveals good agreement between the simulations and experiments. After validation of the aerodynamic model, aerodynamic noise on the c-pillar is studied and aerodynamic noise sources are identified. The critical backlight angles considering the aerodynamic and acoustic parameters are obtained.
