Abstract

In this paper  optimal load frequency control  in  multi  area  deregulated power system using sliding  mode  observer based controller has been proposed when HVDC link  used as an ancillary service. This proposed control strategy which is taking care of nonlinearities and uncertainties and perturbations in the measurement of certain system states of the highly non linear power system. This proposed Observer based controller tested on two areas thermal deregulated power system connected with HVDC link. The performance of proposed sliding mode observer based controller compared to Optimal sliding mode controller, Conventional PI controller.
