Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has a large enough source of geothermal energy. An effort can be done by utilizing geothermal energy as a source of electricity generation, in order to produce a source of electrical energy using the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system using water (H2O) as its working fluid. In this experiment, the ORC system uses Refrigerant R-141b as a working fluid to replace water (H2O) used in the Rankine cycle in general. There are four main components of the ORC system namely turbines, evaporators, condensers and pumps. This experiment is focused on the Evaporator because it produces a degrees  superheating as a source of energy generation. Superheating steam is produced by the evaporator in order to turn turbines and generators. Producing turbine power depends on the degree of superheating mass flow rate. From the experimental results by heating the evaporator, the Refrigerant R-141b undergoes an evaporation process resulting in an increased mass flow rate, with the increase of mass flow rate generates power to turn turbines. By increasing the temperature and by adding Heat Flux it can increase the mass flow rate thus the higher power generated.
