Stationary Test Complex for Vehicle and Tractor Gearboxes

Abstract
This paper discusses the main performance characteristics of the system developed and used at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for testing and optimizing a high-load transmission of a powerful vehicle, The system is intended for experimental studies on automatic gearboxes of wheeled tractors and other transport equipment. A unique design has been made by specialists of the Polytechnic University, the system is adapted for all the types of bench tests of electronically controlled units developed for high-load transmissions of tractors and vehicles. The practical significance in conducting bench tests of the developed samples is substantiated in the main section of the paper. How the operating conditions of transport vehicles and agricultural equipment affect the test method adopted and the load conditions selected for bench tests has been described. The main subsystems comprising the test system are described, including the control subsystems, subsystems for cooling, fuel supply, air supply, gas removal, etc. The structural diagrams of these subsystems are given, along with the descriptions of their components. The parameters of the load device of the stand and the engine are included as well. The main section of the paper also discusses experimental tests carried out using the system for the gearbox of an agricultural tractor. The paper is concluded by considering the potential applications of the system for bench tests of different transmissions developed for transport vehicles and agricultural equipment.
