Modernization of Machining Centers Through Integration of Laser Systems Into Their Composition

Abstract


The purpose of this paper is to consider the problem of expanding the technological capabilities of numerically controlled metalworking machines, vertical machining centers (MC) in particular. One of the ways to solve this problem lies within the method of integrating fiber laser systems into the MC. The integration of lasers into CNC machines allows extending traditional cutting processes with technologies for microprocessing the surfaces of materials, which is possible due to the usage of energy flows concentrated on small areas as a new additional working tool. This article establishes an overview of the problem and focuses on formulating the main goals to conduct further research and find possible solutions.
