Design and Practical Realization of CNC Device Designed for Automation of the Application of Viscous Materials

Abstract


This article deals with the design and the practical realization of a CNC device designed for the application of viscous materials, such as a thermal conducting paste, using standard tubes. The aim of the paper is to give to the reader detailed information about the design process of the CNC machine. In general, thermal conducting paste is used for a better heat dissipation but its application from standard tubes on surface can be an issue. A designed CNC device serves for an easier and a more accurate paste application in production process. Authors tried to design the cheapest possible device. Sufficient mechanical construction has been chosen where designed paste extrusion module has been attached. For selected stepper motors authors designed drivers and, as a base for CNC control an open source firmware has been used, which has been changed according to specific needs. As a result, a functional device has been made, for dispensing uses worm gear instead of being commonly used for air pressure.
