Abstract

The viscous resistance of a tourist submarine suitable for working in the Red Sea area has been calculated at different speeds using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The finite volume RANSE code CFX has been used to study the resistance and the hydrodynamic characteristics of the flow around the tourist submarine at different speeds. The Omega Reynolds Stress turbulent model has been used in different numerical simulations. Half of the computational domain was used in this research work due the symmetry of the tourist submarine hull. The mesh generation software of the CFD code has been used for generating the required unstructured tetrahedral grid for the numerical simulations. The numerical results for the tourist submarine viscous resistance are comparable with the available results from other sources.
