Abstract

The article examines the stages of development of approximated gears - rod toothed transmissions with approximated instantaneous transmission ratio. The history of the first approximated gear is presented. Advantages and drawbacks of conjugate gears under load are considered. The edge contact and influence of gear elements compliance on kinematic parameters are described. Estimation for the particular case of an approximated gear with parallel axes is presented.
