Modeling the Effect of Boundary Conditions on the Stability of Multilayer Composite Structures: Case of Buckling Bifurcation. Analytical and Numerical Results Using “SHELL 181” Element

Abstract


This research aims to analyze the buckling behavior of multilayered rectangular plates reinforced by fibers. The critical buckling load is calculated for various boundary conditions and takes into account the geometric and design parameters of the plate to identify the best configuration of a particular composite and to achieve a greater buckling strength. The computation of the critical buckling load is obtained by analytical and a numerical finite element analysis using “SHELL181”ANSYS element. The field of displacements of the plate is shown for the two first modes (i = 1, 2) a comparison of the two results is considered and discussed.
