Abstract

The aim of the paper is to present the results of an experimental investigation of a two-phase (air-water) flow separation. Experiments were held in α pipe made of Plexiglas, with cross section 25 x 55 mm and 1500 mm length. In one side three street canyon cavities, of cross section 55 x 55 mm, were placed. Two different positions were chosen for the cavities (facing upwards and to the side, resulting by rotating the whole pipe 90o degrees and fixing it at this position) and two different pressure conditions into the pipe, that were determined by the water tank (open or partially closed). The experimental results achieved are listed below and compared for each position of the cavities and for each situation of the water tank.
