Abstract

This study concerns the numerical simulation in two dimensions; air flow and heat transfer in a horizontal channel with isothermal walls with four pairs of fins.  A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) program FLUENT has been used to compute the velocity and the temperature field. Computation is performed by means of a finite volume approach based on a pressure correction procedure. The fluid considered here is air (Pr = 0.71) and the analysis is carried out for Reynolds numbers ranged between 50 and 300. The objective of the proposed work is to analyze the flows caused by the presence of fins. Thus the effects of Reynolds number and the angle of the fins are presented and discussed.
