Abstract

The goal of this research is to study the effect of the re-tempering of the concrete on its properties. For completion of this study, two types of portland cement (normal and sulfate resistance) are used for the preparation of concrete mixes contained superplasticizer and without it. The comparison was been made between the results of the tests of the concrete samples for ages (7, 14, 28) days. Re-tempering shows higher values compared with their reference for compressive strength, splitting tensile, air dry density and modulus of elasticity. Results indicated that the re-tempering may be affected by the cement type. Also the results clarified that the re-tempering by cement paste improves the properties compared to the re-tempering by water. Generally, this study shows that the re-tempering concrete which contained superplasticizer exhibited slightly reduction in the percentages of increments compared to those free from superplasticizer.
