Welcome to the first issue of the International Journal of Earthquake Engineering and Hazard Mitigation (IREHM). Earthquake is one of the major natural disasters that causes severe human loss as well as economic loss in a wide variety of ways, from ground vibration to tsunami, liquefaction, landslide, and conflagrations. This journal is therefore committed to the publication of high-quality and original articles that advance the state-of-the art of the earthquake engineering and hazards mitigation
