Abstract


In this paper, an analysis of the mechanical behaviour of a coarse material on drained and undrained triaxial monotonic paths is presented. The experimental difficulties inherent to these tests are reported as well as a discussion of the results with respect to existing references, either correlations or reference curves. The specific properties of the material, due to its grain size distribution and the differences with a standard laboratory sand, such as Hostun sand, which has been at the basis of many studies, are outlined.
