Abstract

The realistic determination of building stock and population appears to be the most significant problem about reliability in calculating the earthquake loss. This study presents how these are determined drawing necessary information from the Greek census of 2011. The seismic loss calculations were made by properly combining the two softwares ELER and QGIS. These issues are investigated by calculating the estimation of seismic losses in the Municipality of Kifissia for different earthquake scenarios. For more realistic results, the seismic hazard was proved to be deterministic and it derives from a known fault of the study area. The vulnerability of buildings is based on fragility and capacity carves, proposed by European Building Taxonomy and recent literature. Finally, digital maps of the area were created with the immediate results.
