Abstract

This study presents a numerical investigation of the fin efficiency and temperature distribution of a plain fin with combined heat and mass transfer. Using the finite difference scheme the differential equation results from an energy balance on an element of the fin has been solved to obtain temperature distribution along the fin surface. The effects of variations in relative humidity, dry air and fin base temperatures, atmospheric pressure, and fin pitch on temperature distribution and also on fin efficiency are discussed
