Abstract

Urinary bladder rupture is the result of impact during significant trauma which requires immediate surgery or repair to avoid some complications. There can be permanent changes if the exact evaluation is not done by the cross sectional imaging. We present 37-years old male who sustained blunt trauma in road traffic accident (RTA) and was brought to the emergency department of the hospital. Focused assessment with ultrasound for trauma (FAST) revealed free fluid in abdomen. The cross sectional imaging by contrast enhanced computerized tomography (CECT) revealed the diagnosis as extra peritoneal rupture of the urinary bladder. The patient was treated conservatively with a bladder catheter with total recovery. Post traumatic urinary bladder injury requires meticulous radiological evaluation for the management point of view. The issue of conservative management and surgical contemplation is decided after the cross sectional imaging evaluation.
