Abstract

Intelligent Street lighting control system reduces the power consumption to a large extent. Dimming of lights based on natural light intensity helps in the reduction of power consumed. However, the wastage of power during meagre road usage in dark hours has to be addressed. In this paper, a novel fuzzy logic based controller is proposed to reduce the consumption of power when there is no vehicle travelling on the road during dark hours. By experimental analysis, it is proved that this system effectively reduces the power consumed by the street light.
