Abstract

Cloud Computing enabled a lot of vendors to introduce various services. The diversity of provided services resulted in interoperability and portability issues. This paper discusses how semantic web and semantic web services can support the hybrid cloud model. It uses semantic web to provide a dynamic integration of in-house resources with the public resources, i.e. hybrid cloud. Different ontologies are proposed to describe the different scenarios of using the third party resources, i.e. infrastructure resources, services and composite services. A new framework, ShClS, is presented for that purpose. While the majority of the other works in the hybrid clouds concentrate on optimizing the cost and/or the response time, this paper proposes the usage of the risk of using resources in addition to the cost considering the privacy requirements of the owner. It depends on the expected monetary value analysis, EMV, when making the decision of running the job execution request using one of the different available integration options.
