Abstract

Real-time control systems are becoming complex and the traditional point-to-point communication has been replaced by an increasing number of networked architectures. Large amounts of data are now transmitted over the same medium. Control systems are idealized in a way that information exchange is perfect and happens instantaneously. This is rarely true and the problem acquires new dimensions if the control system is a Networked Control System (NCS). Feedback control system connected to a real time network through which the control process takes place is called network control system. Features of NCS is the information like reference input, plant output, control input is exchanged between sensors, controllers, actuator using a network like CAN bus. The system wiring is reduced, easy to maintain and increases the system reliability. In the conventional control theories uses some ideal assumptions like equal distance sensing, synchronized control and non-delayed sensing and actuation. But in time varying systems this assumption fails due to transmission delay or packet dropout. Delays may vary from one sample to another giving rise to delay jitter. In this paper Stability of NCS is analyzed by considering transmission delay for a computer controlled system using scheduling algorithm.
