Abstract

The motion estimation stage occupies more than 70% of the total encoding time of a image sequence encoder. In this work we assess different techniques of motion estimation by Block Matching, we present the influence of some parameters used for estimation on the complexity of these algorithms and we examine particularly algorithms complexity according to the dynamic of sequence. The purpose of this paper is to find the optimal Block Matching algorithm and to determine the appropriate parameters of estimation based on the sequence dynamic.
