Abstract


Recently, the impact of the multimedia in the real world is astonished because of its wide applications. Some of the applications are for commercial, entertainment, education, engineering, security and more. Various multimedia components are utilized but besides other, the digital image plays a vital role in the real world. A wide range of applications utilized the digital images. For processing the digital images, it must be in a clarified form in order to obtain the acute information of the image. Some of the images are hazy because of the acquisition techniques and the communication media. Due to these issues, image enhancement plays an important role in the real world and as well as in the research community. In this work, the intensity of the hazy image is improved with the aid of the PSO algorithm with the morphological operation. Initially, the image is converted to gray scale image and then for adjusting the intensity of the image optimal contrast value is selected with the aid of PSO algorithm. Subsequently, the optimal contrast value is applied on the image and then for the further improvement, morphological operation is applied. Thus, an enhanced image that is appropriate for the further processing is obtained. The obtained enhanced image also has perfect clarity for the human perception.
