Optimal AC-DC Power Flow Using Genetic Algorithm

Abstract
In this paper, we present a new approach to solve the optimization problem of the total cost of production units of the alternative current systems having one or more direct current transmission. Given the performance of convergence to optimal solution, genetic algorithm is used and coupled with the Substitution Power Injection method to cope with our problem. The proposed method also takes into account the equalities and inequalities constraints. The method is tested on the modified network IEEE-30 and the results are discussed and compared with related works reported in the literature.
