Abstract

Photovoltaic(PV) systemmodelingis widely employed in the photovoltaicindustry for the prediction of PV system output under a given set of weather conditions. This study proposes a method ofmodelingand simulation of photovoltaicarrays. The objectiveis to find the parameters of the nonlinearI-Vequation by adjusting the curve at three points: open circuit, maximum power, and short circuit. Considering these three points, which are provided by all commercial PV array data sheets, this method derives the bestI-Vequation for the single-diodephotovoltaic(PV)model, taking into consideration, the effect of the series and parallel resistances. The model developed ensures that maximum power value obtained is close to that of the actual array. Experimental testing has been conducted under in-door and out-door conditions to validate the developed model, with actual characteristics. A 30W solar panel has been used in this study
