Abstract

In order to study the phenomena of crack growth in reinforced concrete with polypropylene fibers and sisal fibers, several experimental tests have been implemented. The compression and flexural tensile tests have been performed on standard prismatic specimens notched laterally. Studies of the mechanical behavior of gravel concrete mixed with polypropylene (PP) and sisal (S) fibers have showed that with the incorporation of fibers (PP) and sisal (S) in the cement matrix, there is an improvement in the ductile behavior of the composite compared to the fiber-free composite. In this study, the composite has been tested with different dosages of polypropylene and sisal fibers (0.05%, 0.10%, 0.30% and 0.50%). The results have showed that adding polypropylene fibers in a cement matrix gives better results in terms of flexural tensile strength and an improvement in its ductile property compared to sisal fibers.
