Abstract

The insufficiency of freshwater resources is becoming universal in recent times. At present, its availability is not ensured everywhere and its consumption is becoming more intense in view of the increase in population and irregularity of claims as well as due to the influence of global warming. This work is devoted to establish a numerical code to simulate the purification of sea water in order to have fresh water for domestic and industrial use. A mathematical model corresponding to the desalination process of seawater has been implemented to model the technique of mechanical distillation applied to an osmotic apparatus. The simulation results make it possible to apprehend the separation of saline particles from water. The Kdem-Katalchsky model was used, which describes the diffusion of solutes through the pores of the Membranes.
