Abstract

This work is a contribution to study the influence of the mineral additions on the behaviour of self-compacting concrete (SCC) in fresh and hardened states. For that, the limestone filler and crushed dune sand of the Western erg are added to formulate the SCC, and a comparison is conducted on their effect on the properties of SCC. The results of the mechanical tests show that there is a light difference between the concrete containing the limestone filler and the concrete containing the crushed dune sand. Moreover, the concrete containing crushed dune sand presents a better behavior at the shrinkage than the limestone filler.
