This paper gives an overview of recent progress on the study of "beam-column" steel connections. These joints are tested for modelling the tension zone in a "beam-column" extended bolted endplate connection. Bolt heads and their preloading rate affect the distribution of internal forces in the connection and, therefore, their failure load and are the main parameters in this study. A refined evaluation of the plastic capacity of the tension zone (T-stub connection) is presented. Compared with experimental results, this latter provides better accuracy than existing methods
