Flared V-Shape Slotted Monopole Multiband Antenna with Metamaterial Loading
A compact slotted printed monopole antenna is proposed with metamaterial loading to achieve multi band operation. This antenna structure was originally inspired from the concept of negative refractive index metamaterial transmission lines and exhibits multiband behaviour. The antenna resembles V-shaped structure with the combination of radiating element on the top side and the ground plane on bottom side to the substrate material (Rogers RT/duroid 6006, permittivity = 6.15 and loss tangent = 0.0019). The simulation results of the proposed antenna are strongly supporting the applications of long distance Radio telecommunication (4 to 8 GHz) andmilitary Satellite communication (7.25 to 8.4 GHz) operation. Cylindrical shaped vias are acting as shorting pins between the radiating element and the ground plane which in turn, reduce the overall size of the antenna. The overall size of the antenna is around 37 × 15 × 1.2 mm with multiband characteristics between 6-20 G Hz.
