A QoS Based DSR Routing Protocol for MANETs Using Bandwidth

Abstract


Due to dynamic nature in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs), Quality of Service (QoS) routing is one of the most critical issues. Many researches have been investigated QoS over different network architectures, but few of them focused on QoS in MANETs. In this paper, a bandwidth based DSR routing protocol is proposed (QoS-DSR). Extensions were added to DSR routing protocol so that the routes are selected to satisfy the bandwidth (BW) constraint in MANETs. Glomosim is used to simulate the proposed routing protocol, results were satisfactory over many performance metrics.
