Abstract

The on-body performance parameters of a compact quasi-self-complementary ultra wideband (UWB) antenna for wearable applications are investigated in this paper. The antenna is intended to be applied in various applications in healthcare and sport performance monitoring. The on-body return loss response, impedance, radiation pattern, gain and radiation efficiency of the proposed antenna are studied. The antenna is very compact in size and it shows very good performance when it is placed on the body, therefore it will be suitable candidate for on-body applications in UWB wireless body area networks (WBANs).
