Abstract

Because of the modern development of aviation and the concept of a fully electric aircraft, the most relevant in the field of actuators systems is the study of the possibility of transition from a centralized hydraulic system to other power sources. One of the options for this development now are dual-mode actuators. In this paper present the dual-mode electro-hydraulic actuator (DEHA) DRP-1, which is the first prototype of the actuator with combined speed regulation in Russia. That’s mean high dynamic performance in the small amplitudes range of the input signals. The purpose of this paper is to verify the influence of the inertial loads on the dynamic characteristics of the new actuator and present the possibility of further development of actuator systems towards a more electric aircraft. The theoretical and experimental research of the dynamics of DEHA showed that the presence of an inertial load on the output link of the actuator does not have a significant effect on its dynamic characteristics when operating in native mode with throttling speed regulation. The obtained results and the previous studies have shown that the ability of the DEHA with combined speed regulation provide characteristics required for the flight control tasks. The adjustable differential pressure valve of the reverse makes the actuator more responsive. Based on the conducted research it is concluded that on set of parameters the dual-mode electro-hydraulic actuators with combined speed regulation in the standby mode (DEHA-CSR) is the promising direction of control systems actuators development for high degree electrification aircraft.
