Abstract

This article presents a design analysis of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motors with the asynchronous start-up for the fuel pump drives of the aerospace industry. The analysis has been carried out by using the Ansoft Maxwell software package. The article proves the superiority of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motors with the asynchronous start-up over asynchronous motors. Based on computer simulation, the design of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor with the asynchronous start-up, which meets the requirements for the fuel pump drives of the aerospace industry, has been identified. The selected topology has a simple manufacturing technology, high-energy characteristics, minimal mass-and-size parameters, high power factor, and a synchronous braking torque below 50% of the starting asynchronous torque. Results can be used in the design of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor with the direct asynchronous start-up.
