Abstract

The paper deals with analysis, modelling and simulation of complex route systems. Presented methodology and mathematical modelling methods explain how ascending and descending road slopes influence energy management in the power-train of hybrid or electric vehicles. Advantages of the proposed route model over speed profiles that are commonly used in simulations are also explained. Proposed route model results in better energy consumption prediction. Presented simulations prove that introduction of road slope in vehicle route profile has significant impact on prediction of energy balance in the given vehicle. The proposed methodology of complex route model synthesis is applicable on any vehicle route. The proposed vehicle model is parameterized, thus scalable and adjustable to any vehicle type. Both the complex route model and the vehicle model make the simulation results more precise than the commonly used driving cycles.
