DC Motor Control Using PID Controller Based on Improved Ant Colony Algorithm

Abstract


This paper presents analysis for two different types of controllers for speed control of separately excited DC motor. Improved Ant colony algorithm has been analyzed and presented as an adapted optimization algorithm for tuning PID controller parameters. Conventional PID has been applied for the same machine. Comparison between the two controllers is provided based on step response parameters like maximum overshoot, rise time and settling time.
