Abstract


The main objective in this work is to compare and control design for a two-input/two-output (MIMO) distillation column. The major difficulties of the control design in this nonlinear process are due to the interaction between the control loops and time delay. In this work, we designed and applied the decentralized IMC-PI (Internal Model Control-Proportional Integral) and multivariable predictive control (MPC). To compare the two controller’s performance, we simulate the system for different set point change and disturbance. The obtained results have shown the best MPC performances.
