Abstract

This article looks into the implementation of TCPS (FACTS controller) with optimal sliding mode control strategy in order to solve load frequency Control problem in multi area deregulated hydro thermal system. When the system undergoes sudden disturbances the new coordinated control strategy can manage nonlinearities and uncertainties. This new technique of combination of TCPS and optimal sliding mode controller tested on two area hydro thermal deregulated power system including bilateral contacts. When compared with combination of TCPS and sliding mode observer based optimal controller and combination   of TCPS and Conventional PI controller a dynamic response of the proposed TCPS and Optimal sliding mode controller has been observed.
