Abstract

This work introduces the design and the fabrication of high gain, ultra wideband Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna (AVA) with dual band-notches behavior. The antenna is designed using 70×55×1 mm3 FR4-dielectric substrate with εr=4.4. The proposed antenna satisfies the Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) characteristics and has maximum gain of 9.3 dB. The spurline slot technique is used to achieve two band-notches. The first band-notch is obtained at worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMax) band, while, the second band-notch is obtained for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) IEEE systems in order to reduce the electromagnetic interference in these bands. By etching out two spurline slots from the transmission line structure, high band-notches characteristics are achieved. Moreover, the current distribution in the antenna wings has no effect, as well as the radiation pattern shapes, and high gain is achieved. The simulation and the measurement results have a high level of agreement.
