Abstract

This paper provides a method that facilitates the construction of multi-band IR optics by simplifying the factors to be considered regarding the relationship between refractive index and wavelength. It relates to process for manufacturing infrared optical lenses that will transmit in multiple infrared bands, for example, lenses with multiple optical elements such as doublet and triplet lenses (i.e., achromatic and apochromatic optical elements). However, designing refractive optics capable of covering such a broad range of wavelengths is difficult by using traditional methods, which involve the use of Abbe number and partial dispersion, So, The lens materials are selected on the basis of dispersion ratios and/or minimum dispersions and minimum dispersion wavelengths as defined here in short wavelength Infrared (0.9-1.7 µm) materials of achromatic and apochromatic, and then test the results by Oslo program.
