Abstract

There are many publications that describe the functions of smart meters. The paper presents two innovative features of a smart energy meter: automatic power factor correction (PFC), autonomous under-frequency load shedding. Introduction of such solutions on mass scale would bring significant savings, great advantages for reliable and efficient operation of the power systems and little inconvenience for the customers
